Merrijig

Merrijig Rodeo is a fantastic family-oriented APRA associated annual event, held Saturday of the March Labour Day Weekend and is the second event in the Kyabram, Merrijig, Chiltern APRA Tri-Series.

Merrijig Rodeo Grounds at McCormack Park Merrijig are nestled in the heart of the High Country below Mt Buller,part of the Great Dividing Range, the action packed event couldn’t be set in a more picturesque location, in fact Merrijig was the setting for the highly successful “Man From Snowy River I 1982 & II 1988” movies, such was the natural beauty of the area.

Complete with kid friendly sideshow entertainments(Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult), a variety of food stalls & a licensed bar (BYO Alcohol is PROHIBITED), there is something for every member of the family to enjoy.

The Merrijig Rodeo Includes the following events:

  • Bareback
  • Barrel Race
  • Break Away Roping
  • Bull Ride
  • Saddle Bronc
  • Steer Wrestling
  • Local Steer Ride

And more, with sideshow entertainment such as dodgem cars, mechanical bull and jumping castle.

There is an ATM facility on site, Cash Only licensed bar selling canned beer, premixed spirits and wine. Due to license restrictions, Drinks are limited to four (4) per person/serve, Spirits, 2 per person/serve. Under 18years and intoxicated patrons will be refused service.

There is also a BBQ kitchen serving steak sandwiches and sausages and other food stalls available.

Board the bus and purchase your ticket on arrival at the rodeo.

Depart Mansfield: 5pm, 6pm, 7pm
Depart Rodeo: 10pm, 11pm
